This is a large antique pine chest. It is handmade and has been waxed to a lovely finish. The chest has strong metal lifting handles to each end and trim to the top and bottom. It has original fishtail hinges and a plank base. Inside there is a candle tray and the chest stands on two wooden runners. The chest would make a lovely stand alone piece of furniture, and could be a large coffee table or blanket box at the end of a bed. There is room for storing books, blankets, shoes, toys, magazines, or a myriad of other things. The chest does have signs of use and wear from its previous life. It has knocks and blemishes which add to its character. The drawer that fits under the candle tray is missing. One of the dovetail joints is missing from the back and there is a slight delve to the top of the chest next to the missing piece. The bottom trim has been replaced at some point. Collection only from near Bedale, North Yorkshire (10 mins from the A1) would be welcomed and can take place outside if preferred.
