This pine chest is a good large size and handmade. There is a good grain to the wood. It has strong metal lifting handles to each end and is waxed to a nice finish and colour. The chest is clean inside and the base is made of pine boards. There are well made dovetail joints and trim to the bottom of the chest. Two fabric stays have been added to the chest in order to prevent the lid from falling backwards. There is also a candle draw inside the chest. This chest could be used as a blanket box at the end of a bed, or a large coffee table as it’s a useful size for storing books, toys, blankets, duvets or shoes etc. The chest does have signs of use and wear including marks and knocks. The lid is nicely constructed and is braced underneath for extra strength. There is a slight shrinkage gap to the lid but it is sound. There are signs of historic woodworm to a couple of areas on the front and to the top corner rim (not visible when the lid is shut). The chest has had new hinges put on at some point in time, as well as new bottom trim. There is also evidence of where a previous set of handles have been fitted to the ends. One end also has an indentation. Measurements at the largest points. Please check the measurements to see if it fits in your intended space.
