Large Old Pine Storage Trunk Munitions Chest Coffee Table Blanket Box, well aged

This is an old trunk which probably began life as a munitions chest for the military, i. T is heavy and solid and would be ideal for use as a large coffee table chest. The trunk is made of very thick pine and is strengthened by cast iron bands to the top and small corner supports, t. O the front there is a large metal catch which is stamped with the initials’I. The chest sits on wooden batons which are inset with old castors which allow it to be moved about easily. The wood is very rustic with many marks and knocks and a lot on old nails hammered into the top. CONDITION This piece is in solid structural condition but has many marks, knocks and dents to the top. The trunk would probably once had handles at either end and perhaps some sort of covering which is long gone. The top has an old shrinkage crack which has been filled and there are many old nails in the wood. Basically it’s very rustic and well aged! MEASUREMENTS height- 50cms width-63cms depth- 54cms. The measurements are taken at the widest points. We use a regular family run courier company who are based in Bridgewater. North- day subject to change. Wales- day subject to change.
