This is an old trunk which began life as a munitions chest for the military, i. T is large and wide and would be ideal for use as a large coffee table chest. The trunk is made of very thick pine panels and is strengthened by cast iron bands to the top and iron corner supports which make it heavy and solid. At either end a large cast iron handle allows it to be carried about, if you are feeling strong enough. The chest has a lift up lid which opens to reveal a clean interior, the lid is missing its lock. The wood is pretty rustic with many marks and knocks and a filled shrinkage crack to the top. CONDITION This piece is in solid structural condition but has many marks, knocks and dents to the top. The top had a shrinkage crack which has been filled. The wood has been cleaned and then waxed for a durable dark sheen. Height- 56cms width-93cms not including the handles depth- 58.5cms. The measurements are taken at the widest points.
