Welcome to my listing for this Beautiful Trunk/Ottoman/Coffee Table/Toy Box. Unlike flat pack, this is a lovely solid piece of furniture made from solid oak wood I believe. With it’s beautiful ornate carvings to the front it’s certainly a stunning and unique piece. I have given this 3 to 4 coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the popular shade Old White which suits every decor. This has been distressed’Shabby Chic’ style which we all love. I have then clear waxed all over to ensure the paint is protected for everyday use. The hinged chest top has been painted in a faux wood effect using a special technique via paints and waxes. The waxing also helps to ensure that this is protected and endurable for everyday use, so can easily be used as a coffee table if desired. A very useful and attractive chest with plenty of versatility. Can be used as a blanket box, a toy box, a window seat or a good sized coffee table with a large amount of storage inside, you decide! This has been painted to the back also, as shown in the pictures. I say this many times, but this really does look better than the photographs depict, and viewing is welcome and highly recommended by appointment, just message me (Leanne). I always remove all fittings (handles, hinges etc), whenever possible, and mask areas for a clean finish. If I cannot repair, I will always describe any obvious flaws with as much accuracy as I can. Of course, there may well be a few tiny drips and brushmarks as I do paint every item by hand, no spray paints are used here! I try to use the original fixings, but if this is not possible, I will source good quality replacements. I love vintage furniture, and try to keep all of the old charm and originality of each piece whilst making sure it is brought up to date to fit with all types of homes, whether it is a small country house, traditional, large farmhouse, quaint french shabby or a modern semi : The light neutral shades bring new life to old furniture, and will brighten up any corner of your home. As we all know, preloved items are not always perfect though, and any dings and dents add to the charm, and some are even intentional for the’shabby chic’ look. I like to use Farrow & Ball Estate Eggshell as I find it gives a very smooth and professional finish, and of course it has a wonderful range of subtle colours to choose from, but have recently moved onto the acclaimed Annie Sloan also, to give my items a varied feel and to appeal to everyone’s taste, I love them both!
